Southwestern University is a selective, four-year, independent, undergraduate national liberal arts college consisting of The Brown College of Arts and Sciences and the Sarofim School of Fine Arts. Liberal arts and sciences curriculum; pre-professional programs in engineering, medicine, law, business, education and theology. Phi Beta Kappa and Alpha Chi honor society chapters. Southwestern is a member of the Associated Colleges of the South and the Annapolis Group, a consortium of the nation's leading liberal arts institutions.

  • Southwestern University has one of the nation's more traditional liberal arts and sciences programs, with selected contemporary components designed to prepare students for the modern world. Emerging as part of Southwestern's educational experience is the new Paideia Program — a distinctive academic option for select students that provides opportunities to compare, contrast and integrate knowledge and skills gained in various areas of study. Students discover the powerful connections between the University's rigorous academic experience and dynamic programs available outside the classroom through leadership, collaborative learning, service and intercultural experiences.
  • Southwestern University's campus has been called one of Texas' most beautiful and best-planned college facilities. Located on the edge of Texas Hill Country in the historic city of Georgetown, the more than 30 buildings situated on 700 acres supply an unusually fine environment for living and learning. The Georgetown / Austin area, on the edge of the Texas Hill Country, offers unlimited outdoor recreational activities for Southwestern's students. From horseback riding, canoeing, and hiking to cycling, camping, and rock-climbing, you will find natural resources are abundant.
  • Southwestern Universit accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, the National Association of Schools of Music, the University Senate of the United Methodist Church, and the Texas Education Agency.
  • In the annual U.S. News and World Report college rankings, Southwestern was once again the top-rated national liberal arts university in Texas. Southwestern moved up one spot in the overall rankings for national liberal arts colleges, from 62 to 61. Southwestern also was named among the 300 "best and most interesting" colleges and universitites in the 2006 edition of the Fiske Guide to Colleges, edited by former New York Times education editor Edward B. Fiske. The guidebook noted that Southwestern students "are concerned with the world around them, as well as active within the community."
